I’m very excited to announce that I will be presenting a paper at The Representational Art Conference on April 1, 2019. The title of the paper is “Imagination and Creativity-A Cognizant Balance?” and will be exploring if imagination and creativity are different.
In my art class and on my art chats podcast, we talk about the creative process. Imagination seems to creep into each conversation. I’m sure we all tried to paint something from our imagination. Sometimes with succeed and sometimes with fail. Why is that?
The paper will not solve the world, but will explore the link between these two necessary things–no only from a painting point a view, but how artists create stories, some novels, some instruction books, but creating a world that is not real-imagined! It discusses going from something not real to something tangible–a book, a painting, a sketch, a scribble, or a doodle. We’ll explore that process, mixed with intention and skill, to bring about an end result.
Select the link above and you can read the abstract. While at the site, have a look around and see who else will be at the conference. Yes, it is Cheech! It promises to be a fun time, but also a time of reflection on our art and affect imagination has on 21st Century Art.
Hope to see you there!
