A Successful Charity Ball Event!

Tom and I were asked to chair the 98th Charity Ball this year in our community. This event raises money for the Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Club endowment for Women’s Health. Over the years, this endowment has served over 350 women, insuring they receive mammograms, tests, and help with the treatment of medical issues like breast cancer.  We were excited and proud to plan and host this event. Of course, we could not have done this without our wonderful committee (Jacky, Jerry, Robin, Paul, Ted, Lori, Kathie, Matt, Jamie, Phillip, Carole, David, Dan, Lori and Andy!) and our event coordinator, Fran.  A shout out to Miami University Middletown’s crew, headed up by Chuck and Jacob, Greg (Productions by G) who provided the lighting and sound, and Two Women in a Kitchen (Kirsten) who took us on a tour of the world with the food menu!

A huge thank you to our sponsors, Huhtamaki (presenting sponsor), Miami University Middletown, Journal News/Media Sponsor, Middletown Tube Works, Inc., Atrium Medical Center Foundation, Flowers by Roger (more on this company below), Otterbein Senior Life, and Kosins Tent & Rental.  There are so many more–so check the note below.

We turned to Roger Connor to plan the flowers/decorations for the special event.  My mom, who passed at the age of 72 after a five year fight with colon/ovarian cancer, walked down the aisle with white roses as her bouquet. When Tom and I married, I honored her by incorporating white roses in my red rose bouquet. I shared this with Roger, and the concept of a globe of red and white roses sitting on top of a glass tower. This is what Roger brought to the event center and it brought me to tears!

That’s Roger in the back setting up the decorations.  It was gorgeous–and there are 4 dozen roses in each globe!  I can never thank him enough for these beautiful works of art. This holiday season, if you are in Middletown–pay Flowers by Roger a visit and purchase your holiday table centerpiece. He gives so much to the city and to his art!

The video above are photos from the night’s events. It was a great time and I hope everyone enjoyed their journey around the world. A year’s worth of effort went into the planning and we enjoyed every minute of it.  Enjoy the video and we hope you have a wonderful holiday!
